News update: The Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 to recommend affirmative action on Special Town Meeting Article 6 (one member of the board was absent).
STM Article 6 is a citizen's petition to include (in our opinion) one property to vital preserving West Concord village's unique character. It's now up to the Planning Board, which inexplicably neglected to include this piece (part of the former Chrysler dealership) in defining and establishing "The West Concord District." Establishing such a district is part of defining how West Concord will be re-developed. (This is NOT an historic district proposal.)
It makes complete sense to us to include this parcel as inside the edge of the West Concord District. That is the way that parcel visually and functionally performs, as if it is part of the West Concord village. Additionally, the West Concord Task Force recommended its inclusion before the Annual Town Meeting Warrant was even opened. We hope the Planning Board will not oppose correcting this error, or otherwise will have some extremely reasonable and full explanations as to why this property should not rightfully be included in the West Concord District.
This song is by the Article's petitioner.

We urge affirmative action on STM Article 6.
