By the Concord Magazine Staff, still more than a little giddy after researching this article. The Concord Magazine and Homepage has promised to make itself available to all things Concord. And in that spirit, we wondered what the Internet would provide in the way of OTHER Concords.
Other Towns Named ConcordThese were are initial target, and though we don't think we've found all of the ones available, here's a good start: Concord, Georgia, Concord, New Hampshire, Concord, Ontario (Canada), Concord, California, and the high school in Concord, Indiana. We couldn't find a site for Concord, North Carolina but it's bound to be out there somewhere.Have a Very Concord DayAt the end of your workday, drive you car home gently cushioned by its Concord automotive suspension. Have a relaxing dinner, lit by Concord Candles. Stoke up your cigar, snipping the end with Concord cigar sheers. "Where has the time gotten to?!" you exclaim as you look at your Concord Watch. Now it's time to trundle off to your Concord bed to dream Concord grape-colored dreams. Nighty-night!
Concord: The Name of BusinessNeed a nifty business name? One that means something? That will attract customers and let them know a little something about what you do? One that has an historic, courageous air to it? Try adding the name "Concord" to any business you can think of and, voila! There's Hong Kong's Concord Online ("the expert in main board and add-on card manufacturing"), Concord-Eracom ("a pioneer in the field of commercially available cryptographic data security") and Taiwan's Concord Venture Capital.Or you might simply decide to "pull the name out of the air" (so says the owner of Ft. Lauderdale's Concord Marine Electronics) because you like it, adding it to whatever is at hand. Concord Environmental Engineering (soil sampling products) picked the name because they felt the definition of harmony and partnership would be understood in many languages. Likewise with Mendham-Concord Inc. (technical writers), who liked the word for similar reasons, and also because it didn't descibe anything about their work....a little mystery is good for business, apparently! Concord VacationsDo you live in Concord, want to get away to somewhere new, yet stay in Concord at the same time? If the answer is 'yes', then you have several choices. The new Concord Inn is in The Dells, WI at a prime location: right across from Tommy Bartett's Robot World. Or, there's the famous but somewhat mysterious Concord Resort Hotel, whose Webpage never comes right out and says what state -- or even country -- it's in (it's in NOT Concord, New York, by the way...how do we know? see column at right). Not exotic enough for you? Then how about Milan, Italy's Hotel Concord? Far away, yet sounds like home!
Pages We Couldn't Quite Get Through ReadingAnd while you're planning your trip to the Concord of Italy, why not check out this page in Italian? It MIGHT be for a company offering personal computers, but it says so little it's hard to be certain. And we offer two entries from the Fabulously Amazing Concord Hyperbole Department. "You have entered Tice Town, a cyber town comprised of Charlotte, Concord, Harrisburg, and Kannapolis, NC. And I guess you can call me the mayor of Tice Town. I'm Kathy Tice, a Realtor/Broker that has been living in Cabarrus County for nearly 30 years...." But Kathy is not to be outdone by The Concord in Tavistock Farms (Arcadia Building Corporation), which swears that "if Mark Twain were alive today, chances are, he'd live in the Concord. Whether it's the southern-style porch that extends the width of the house (elevation C), or the hardwood foyers and oak banisters. The Concord oozes with Southern Comfort. The Master bedroom sports a sitting room with an optional two-sided gas fireplace and there's a bottomless soaking tub in the master bath you could christen a riverboat in." One does wonder how to keep the water in a bottomless tub, but if it's a Concord, it's got to be okay. Perhaps they use incomplete-but-fluffy phrases to keep it from leaking. Not Concord Enough Yet?Don't despair! We've got more Concords for you. There's the Concord Cup (multi-sport tournament in Concord, CA), the Concord Blue Devils ("offers a learning experience in the art of baton twirling, dance, percussion, and music performance. The Blue Devil family offers nine programs for young people age four to twenty-one"), and Knoxville, Tennessee's own First Baptist Concord (originally in the now-defunct town of Concord, TN).
