A Sampling of Upcoming Y2K-Related Courses

Classes Emergency Preparedness: Y2K and Beyond with Jimi Two Feathers. Official and unofficial reports are increasingly acknowledging the likelihood of some disruption of worldwide oil distribution in early 2000 as a result of the Y2K computer bug. While we cannot predict the exact effect this might have on our local power supply, it is prudent to be prepared. Such preparation would also be useful in the event of an ice storm or anything that might cause us to lose power during a New England winter.

Join this informative discussion of how you can prepare yourself and your neighborhood to weather such an emergency. We will discuss how to assess your current needs, resources and infrastructure, both personally and with your neighbors. The potential issues created by loss of power will be reviewed, with particular attention to health and sanitation. You will leave with a plan for carrying out a resource assessment. We will also discuss specific steps to take based on your assessment, and examine issues of psychological preparedness and community-building. You will leave the class with a solid foundation of preparedness, and hopefully with the beginnings of a neighborhood-wide safety net for use in an emergency.

Y2K Anxiety with Ramsay Raymond, Director of the Dreamwheel. Are you concerned about the Y2K transition? Would you like to meet with others to voice your feelings? Would you like to explore personal and concord y2k interpersonal strategies for coping now and later? This evening provides a safe place to explore together our fears and hopes, our practical and spiritual concerns about Y2K, and to find ways to use emotions to fuel positive responses to change.

Wellness, Preventive Healthcare and Y2K with Deborah Bier, M.Ed. Possible disruptions due to Y2K might be coming our way, and autumn is a great time to prepare for optimum health and wellbeing as preparation. Any potential problems in January demand that people be calm, centered, strong, and well in order to meet the challenge. This 2-part course can help turn Y2K and other events from something stressful and anxiety-provoking into opportunities for greater health and wellness. With a particular focus on holistic healthcare, find out about 6 dimensions of wellness and learn practical, hands-on things you can start today to increase your state of wellbeing.

Aargh! or Ahhhh! ? Finding Calm at the Center: Navigating Complex Times with Ramsay Raymond. Stretched beyond what feels right or normal? Over-whelmed by media, striving, comparing, mounting complexity and options? Confused or anxious about the millennium and Y2K? Wanting to decide your course more clearly but don't know how to navigate in the midst of so much change and demand? This workshop is designed for those who wish to discover or strengthen ways to navigate complexity. Deepen the connection to your body and self so that you can accurately sense what is occurring and can navigate quite naturally toward a right place for you.

Endurance: Leadership in Crisis with Court Booth. This course is based on the work he does with organizations like Outward Bound and the Thoreau Center on Leadership, and is tailored around the Shackleton adventures on the South Polar cap earlier this century.

Plus....Red Cross First Aid with an emphasis on environmental emergencies and long-term care; more classes to be announced in the catalog.
