The Conservative Colors of Concord
By The Staff of the Concord Magazine.

come in through my purple door!Much is made of Concord's 17th, 18th and 19th century past. Many of us try to preserve a staid, classic New England appearance to our homes. Indeed: Concord contains several historic districts. Our town owes much of its prized atmosphere to these efforts. Both residential and commercial properties in these areas have their street-views carefully regulated to maintain their historic character.

But, what about those of us who seek to maintain a less historic than a somewhat hysteric character? Is there room for those who make a less-than-classic statement?

When it comes to their homes, there are folks here who, uh, color to the stroke of a different crayon. No, these homes are not on the cutting edge of outsider art, but considering their more conservative neighbors, they do tend to stand out. This page is a tribute to their strong use of color, creating an untraditional -- and beautiful -- result.

Or maybe you like THIS purple door better?
yes, those are CD-ROMS on that window

Yes, those are CD-ROM's decorating the window and door (at left) on this Concord house. Note how the reflected light is refracted into different colors due to the sun's angle.

life is but a dream...a PINK dream, that is
The details on the front door at left are well worth seeing -- click on the photos for a larger view. This house and garage would be beautiful in any color.
even the GARAGES in this dream are PINK
