Developed in 1849, The Concord Grape is the culmination of years of experimental and painstaking cultivation by Concordian Ephraim Bull. It is the one he selected out of 22,000 seedlings he developed. He introduced it in 1853 and it was an instant success.
In the century following its introduction, more Concord grapes were sold than all other species combined. Today, over 335,000 tons are harvested annually...almost all of which are grown outside of Concord, MA!
