![]() November Praise I don't know how you do it, but "exceptional" seems to be the only word to use
in describing each succeeding issue of The Concord Magazine. Such a wealth
of graphics and such interesting articles. The varying colors and patterns
make one feel as though reading it in a richly decorated room. Before, many of us might have thought the word "Ogham" to be an old English surname. Now we know better! And we know a bit more about the humble and homely lead pencil. Of course I enjoyed Leslie Wilson's article on Transcendentalism, especially its place in a time of increasing industrialization. Great job! Best wishes - Loraine Ash
I thought the article about Swedes visiting the Concord Magazine online was
fascinating. What about Denmark? You know the Danes are very familiar with Thoreau, having come to his writings much as Gandhi and Martin Luther King did, appreciating CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE. In Denmark, in WWII/The Holocaust, the people hid Jews from the Nazis just as Henry had hid slaves along the Underground Railroad. For the Danes, the disobedient Thoreau was a beacon of light. - Tom Clark
I was trying to find information on the changing of the leaves and what month
would be the best time??? Who would be the best person to E-mail for this
information.
Thanks for your help - Milton from Texas
Milton, our fall peak is usually in October. But WHEN in October is the question. Depending upon many factors (rainfall, temperatures, etc.), it can vary from early to late. Mid-month is a safe bet and who knows: you might get lucky and make the exact best time. But if you don't, we have many waves of color over several weeks to enjoy, each with its own splendor.
Always enjoy the magazine and the Website and am wonderfully appreciative of your
contribution to our town...but I am having a hard time with some of the
color combos! The table of contents page is hard to read for me because of the color combinations. I'm not sure whether it's my machine or not. Also the left column of the Concord home page is hard to read with the grape background combined with the light green and purple letters. I don't know whether others have that same experience, but thought I would let you know what it looks like for me. - Dan Dan, you wouldn't believe how maddening this topic is! Even though we use the "safe" colors (that is, the ones which "should" display well on the Internet) there is enormous variety of how these actually look from monitor to monitor. What looks great on the three computers, two platforms, and two browsers we check these pages on may look awful in some combination we can't anticipate. Such is the glory and horror of the 'Net.... |
