I pierce the leather
Reveal red jewels
Between
Thin, cream membranes
Dividing section from section.
Together we savor bittersweet buds
Deleting them from her neat table
To our tongues in
Communion.
Sunrise slices darkness
Paring back each new day
Stage upon stage
Joy mixed with sorrow
Adds richness to
Pictures
Of fingers so richly stained.
