By Deborah Bier, publisher and editor of this Ezine.
Though its old appearance hasn't been around long enough to be stale, this edition of the Concord Magazine sees a new look. No, it's not because of an itchy keyboard or an overactive Webmaster with nothing to do (HA!). It's an experiment...and you're a part of it!
It's no secret to folks who live in Concord that how high-speed Internet choices are slim to nil (but see column at right for some new hope). No cable, and Nynex (and now Bell Atlantic) nearly impossible to pin down with an ISDN. Many folks living too far from the central office of the telephone system to use ISDN anyway. And many
residents complain that their phone lines are not handling all the data their modems can take, often coming in at under 28.8, never mind anything near 56 kbs.
For this reason, I've always kept the graphics on the low side on this site....no more garnish than the bare minimum. I, personally, hate waiting for downloads, and I haven't wanted to burden readers in that way.

Here's where the experiment comes in: there are many artists on the 'Net who allow their work to be used for non-commercial projects such as this Ezine. I am incorporating some of the work of their best
(as well as a little of my own) into what I think is a DYNAMITE look for this edition.
Please, let us know what you think of this change. Is the added download time worth it for the visual wow? Does it significantly add to your enjoyment of this publication? Or should we go back to a less graphical version?
For the next couple of issues, I will continue this, featuring mainly the work of one artist (plus some of this and that to fill in) each edition. This month, the spotlight is on Kitty of Full Moon Graphics (including the graphics on this page).
I think her work is fresh, often humorous, and quite lovely...I hope you'll agree.
