Commuter train pulls out of West Concord

The Need for a Car, Bicycle or a Good Pair of Walking Shoes
If you are a tourist looking to visit several of Concord's famous spots, be prepared either do a fair amount of biking, walking or driving. Many come to Concord expecting everything they want to see to be in one handy location and are sadly disappointed (see an editorial on this subject). Attractions are often widely spaced (see some sample distances below). Cabs are rare and do not generally stand waiting for passengers. The train and bus stops (even further below) are not located right at our most popular sites. We know of no place to rent a car or bicycle in Concord.
Some sample distances in Concord:
Monument Square and the Old North Bridge: .6 miles
Monument Square and the Concord train station: .6 miles
Monument Square and Walden Pond: 1.8 miles
Walden Pond and the Old North Bridge: 2.4 miles
Train Station and Walden Pond: 1.7 miles

Airport Travel
Concord can be reached through service to several airports. While Logan is the most traveled and has the most flights, the drive to and from that airport can be difficult and congested. If you can get a flight to/from one of the other airports below, some think you might enjoy your trip more.

Trains & Commuter Rail
There are two commuter rail stops in Concord on the line running from Boston to Fitchberg. One stops in Concord, the other in West Concord. Be aware that while the one in Concord is closest to the usual tourist attractions it is still about a mile's walk to the downtown/Milldam area and about the same distance to Walden Pond.

Amtrak trains come to Boston's South Station and Route 128 Station (Westwood). Other arrangements need to be made from there to reach Concord, including the subway and commuter rail from South Station.
